Liana has approximately 17 years of experience working with people from various backgrounds, beliefs and life experiences, including 3 years as a Tutor at the Douglas College Learning Centre and one year of experience tutoring reading, writing, comprehension and pronunciation skills with the Douglas College ICare Literacy Program. She holds a Bachelors’ degree in Social Work from the University of Victoria (2012), a Citation in Concurrent Disorders (2008), and a Diploma in Community Social Service Work (2006) from Douglas College. With a strong belief that everyone is the expert on their own life, she works with individuals using a strengths-based, person-centred approach and mindfulness techniques. She identifies as a life-long learner and enjoys facilitating the learning process. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as reading, writing, playing word games and doing logic puzzles and watching movies from the Sci-Fi, action, period and hybrid genres. She specializes in essay writing assistance, study skills, test anxiety coping strategies, crisis intervention and expression of thoughts in content courses including but not limited to English, English Literature, Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Poli-Sci, History, Social Studies, among some other Human and Social Development courses.
